Shaffer removed from Cow Creeks tribal post | The News-Review - NRtoday.com: "Sue Shaffer, who has led the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians for 30 years, was removed Thursday evening from her paid position working for the tribe.
‘I got canned,’ Shaffer, 87, said this morning during a conversation by phone. Shaffer said she was clearing out her office at the tribal headquarters on Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg.
Her removal took place, Shaffer said, after being ‘well orchestrated and planned by three people.’ She declined to name the people involved.
‘I'm not naming names, but the tribal membership will know,’ she said.
“It has been a wonderful journey for 30 years,” Shaffer said. “But it's also sad to see it go down the tubes.”
